Less than a 10 minute walk away from the Grand Mosque of Paris is Joe Burger. With seating indoor and outdoors totalling around 20 covers, Joe Burger is a small burger spot with rustic, hipster vibes. Menus are individually printed on wooden boards with descriptions in both English and French as well as being written on a chalkboard on the wall. We paid them a visit on a Friday afternoon just before we headed to the mosque.

We ordered the ‘Tradition’ burger which comprised of fresh ground beef, pickles, beef bacon, caramelised onions, little gem lettuce, tomato, barbecue sauce and American sauce (we chose to not have cheese in the burger on this occasion as Zohra has gone dairy free). Served in a sesame seed bun, this burger really hit the spot. The patty was juicy, the bacon had a smokiness to it and the sauces had a strong flavour that didn’t overpower the taste of the beef.
Service was quick and friendly. We were initially sat outside as the restaurant was full indoors. As soon as a spot opened up indoors, the waiter asked us if we wanted to move despite us not having mentioned it before – we appreciated his initiative to keep us warm.

The meal was served on a board with a faux newspaper wrapping holding the chips and burger in place. The restaurant had pocket sized Tabasco sachets to accompany our meal. I’ve never seen these sachets before – you rip open the top and it turns into what looks like a little bottle of Tabasco sauce.

Overall, Joe Burger serves up a great burger and for less than €10 you can get yourself a burger, fries, drink and dessert – a bargain! If you’ve been to Fatboyz Diner in London, you’ll find that the food and the vibe resembles that restaurant. We would definitely recommend this place especially if you’re heading to the mosque nearby.
