Band of Burgers

The first time the Halal Gems team visited Band of Burgers, we were blown away by what was a really good classic beef burger. Fast forward a couple of years and they’ve expanded to Brick Lane but we still think the Camden branch is worth making a trip to. The menu consists of gourmet burgers, steaks, shakes and wings in a restaurant taking inspiration from all things music.

Chai Thali

Chai Thali may feel like it’s in the middle of nowhere for those used to the busier areas of Camden but the food and vibe at this newly opened restaurant attracts a crowd. Offering an extensive menu of street foods inspired by the subcontinent , Chai Thali is a great place for sharing plates. Each booth is named after an Indian city and with 120 seats, the restaurant is great for large groups. They also offer a lunch menu with ‘on-the-go’ options.

Fatburger

Fatburger is an American chain and its London branches (Camden and Wembley) offer a fully halal menu. Though known for its burgers, we’re huge fans of their wings – their lemon pepper ones are a must try.

Guanabana

As one of the oldest halal Latin / Caribbean restaurants in London, Guanabana has built quite a reputation. We’ve had many burgers at Guanabana but with so many great halal burger restaurants in the area, we tend to visit Guanabana for just one thing now: the coffee. We discovered the Cafe Leche and Cafe Bon Bon coffees (the latter of which is not on the main menu) last year and have been hooked ever since. Made using condensed milk and a shot of espresso the coffee is thick, sweet and strong all at the same time.
