Malta is an archipelago in the central Mediterranean between Sicily and the North African coast. During a visit to Malta, we noticed the influence of the Romans, Moors, Knights of Saint John and British who all once ruled the place. Inevitably, the history of the archipelago has influenced the various cuisines available and this can be seen in the offering of the various halal restaurants on the island of Malta.

Shakinah
Another St Julian’s gem, Shakinah is located on the seafront and offers Indian cuisine. The restaurant is small and very popular so be sure to book a table in advance. The welcoming atmosphere, ambiance and friendly service creates a relaxed vibe in the restaurant and the food does not disappoint. The menu features a range of traditional dishes – all of which are halal.
Suruchi
Suruchi is another Indian restaurant in St Julian’s. Perhaps a little more casual than Shakinah, Suruchi also offers a range of traditional dishes. If you’re dining in a group, we’d recommend the sizzling tandoor platter.

Millenium Kebab
If there’s one thing we’ve noticed while travelling around Europe, it’s that finding a Turkish kebab or doner restaurant somewhere in the city isn’t too difficult. In Malta, if you’re looking for a kebab shop that isn’ serving up greasy food, head to Millenium Kebab in Sliema. Not only is all the food served here halal, it is also relatively cheap. Seating is available both inside and outside the restaurant which is great on a warm Summer’s day.
