Halal Gems have teamed up with Muslim Women Connect to bring you an evening of inspiration from Sudanese-Australian mechanical engineer, writer and social advocate, Yassmin Abdel-Magied.
About Yassmin Abdel Magied
Yassmin Abdel-Magied is a Sudanese-Australian mechanical engineer, social advocate, writer, petrol head and the 2015 Queensland Young Australian of the Year. She advocates for the empowerment of youth, women and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and founded Youth Without Borders at age 16. She is an autobiographical author and part-time television / radio presenter. She hosts the Australia Wide program on Saturday mornings on ABC news. Yassmin is also the founder of MUMTAZA , an Australian-based, internationally operating Speakers Bureau, dedicated to empowering the voice of Women of Colour around the world. About Muslim Women Connect
Event details
Date: Saturday 10th June 2017
Time: 8pm (orders for iftar must be placed by 8.30pm)
Location: Boondocks (the event will take place downstairs in the restaurant).
Note: The talk is free to ticket holders. The £21.50 ticket fee is for the iftar from Boondocks which includes starters at your table, one main, one side, a dessert and one drink. All food served is halal and organic. Prayer space will be provided and the event is open to all.
