About
Street Eats, London’s street food festival, is coming back to Old Spitalfields Market this August!
We’re excited to announce our second Street Eats event! London’s Street Food Festival returns to Old Spitalfields Market on Friday 3rd August and Saturday 4th August 2018 (10am – 9pm). The best of London’s street food will be available for Londoners and visitors to the city.
London has some of the finest street food in the world, and Street Eats celebrates the best of this vibrant foodie community. Last year’s festival attracted over 67,000 visitors. We’ve heard the feedback, and this year we’re limiting queues by reducing the number of people at the festival. There is a small ticket fee for entry, which makes sure that we can limit numbers and that everyone at the festival has a good time. Quality over quantity, every time, but especially when it comes to food!
You can expect to find traders like Da Ja Chicken, Oli Baba’s Halloumi Fries, Wafflestick, London Smokehouse, Khao London and Chaatit. The alcohol free bar will be run by Square Root London, a local Hackney based drinks specialist.
A good foodie experience doesn’t end after eating, and the ethos of Street Eats includes a commitment to a close to zero waste target. Working with local recycling organisations, Street Eats aims to ensure that all materials are recycled after the event. Left over food will be distributed to local shelters. We’re encouraging our traders to go plastic free and to use free range and local ingredients where possible.
When we created Street Eats, we wanted to show the halal conscious dining community that you can have a food festival that has amazing food and is halal, and to create a space for friends and families to hang out in the evening and have a good time, in the absence of alcohol.
On the other hand, we want to help the general foodie community experience a great time without alcohol, and to show that halal food can be of excellent quality. Plenty of people choose to go ‘dry’ these days, and this night out in London promises to be just as fun as any other.
